The story of this place discovery is really amazing: in the 19th century, the German nun Anna Katerina Emmerich, who during all her life had ability to visions of Virgine Mary and Jesus in their previous lives, became seriously ill. In one of her dreams, В одном из снов сама The Mother of God appeared to her and showed her a place in western Turkey and a house where the nun had never been before. Later, when the visions of the nun were believed and they began to excavate in the area indicated by the nun, the real founding perfectly fit Anna’s description. She described with amazing accuracy the details of the home, its interior and material, from which it was built. All visions of Anna Katerina Emmerich were published in 1842 in her book. Not long ago English missionaries erected a statue of the Virgin Mary at the beginning of the serpentine ascent to Nightingale Mountain.
